Picking a swing bed size is one of the first questions we get from customers planning a new porch, pergola, or pool-side lounge area. Since every SwingBed is handcrafted to order in cedar or cypress, getting the size right up front saves time and makes sure your new swing fits the space — and the people — it's built for.
Know Your Sizes
Every SwingBed is available in four standard sizes, and knowing the difference makes shopping much easier:
- Crib size — 59" long x 28" wide, ideal for a single lounger or a small landing/entryway swing
- Twin size — 82" long x 39" wide, our most popular size for a comfortable one- or two-person swing
- Full size — 82" long x 53" wide, roomy enough to stretch out or fit the whole family for movie night on the porch
- Queen size — 87" long x 60" wide, our largest option, perfect as a true outdoor daybed
Sizing isn't just about the swing bed itself, either — it determines how much ceiling or beam space you need for the hanging kit, and how much clearance the swing needs to move freely without hitting a wall, railing, or piece of furniture.
Measure Your Space First
Before choosing a size, measure the width of your porch, pergola, or patio area, and leave at least 24 inches of clearance on either side of the swing for it to move comfortably. Also check your ceiling height — most SwingBeds hang from a sturdy porch ceiling, beam, or our freestanding SwingBed Arbor frame if you don't have an existing structure to hang from.
